Commencement of Lake Grande

With Stage 6 and 7A now complete Andergrove lakes has decided to accelerate construction of Lake Grande and earthworks for stages 8 & 9 and construction has now commenced. Lake Grande will be approximately 50% larger than Lake Poco on completion with a larger cable system that will have more carriers and rider capacity at the same time.

Lake Grande will have an enhanced set of lake features or "kickers and sliders" designed for advanced and extreme riders who seek greater challenges. It will become the central management hub for both of the main lakes plus Lake Piccolo.

There will be a new ski lodge at Lake Grande which will become the central management hub for both of the main lakes plus Lake Piccolo.

Lake Grande will take approximately 8 months to complete which we are hoping will be achieved by the end of the dry season November/December 2014 weather permitting.

Andergrove Lakes Childcare Centre

Andergrove Lakes Childcare Centre has been operating approximately 6 weeks now and is receiving excellent feedback from parents. All of the final touches and operational elements of the complex have now been tested and are working well.

For further information and enrolments go to www.kidzplay.com.au.

First Baby Born In Andergrove Lakes

On 11 February the Andergrove Lakes community proudly welcomed Cruz Buchanan as our newest resident. Unlike other residents who move in, Cruz was born in the estate - literally. Cruz was determined to get an early start and arrived unexpectedly, quickly beating his parents endeavours to get to the hospital.

Cruz is the fourth baby of Reuben and Sheril Buchanan, the unofficial Mayor and Mayoress of Andergrove Lakes. Both mum and baby are doing great. We wish the Buchanan family an easy adjustment with their new edition.

Lake Poco Operations

The Mackay Cable Ski Park is managed by GoWake and is running gangbusters. As local residents know the park is already at capacity during peak times in the afternoon and on weekends with several sessions now restricted to members only.

If you are keen on wakeboarding why not get a membership and enjoy more time wakeboarding.

Also, don't be shy. GoWake is running a variety of clinics to get new wakeboarders started and advance the motivated riders.

For further information go to www.gowakemackay.com.au or contact the park on 1300 651 040.

The Cable System came to life today marking a milestone after the six years that it has taken the Mackay Cable Park to be planned and developed.

The final installation of the controller system was undertaken by a specialist German installation and commissioning team headed by Mr Fero Surka.

“I enjoy installing and commissioning every cable system” said Mr Surka. “Particularly, this system as it is in such a wonderful place in the world. It is the first time for me in Australia and I was delighted to be given the opportunity to do this installation.”

“The Ski Lodge has been constructed and completion of the project is down to the Ski Lodge fit out, installation of walkways and the construction of outdoor equipment” said Mr Grimm, Andergrove Lakes director.

“We will all be ready for the World Wakeboarding Championships which is due to start on 15 November 2013, but there will be no chance of any break between now and then. It is a very exciting time for us all” said Mr Grimm.

"This is a first for Australia” said GoWake director Kirk Langford. “If we pull this off successfully, we will be in a good position to bid for the Finals in the World Wakeboarding Championships once the Lake Grande Cable System is constructed” said Mr Langford.

In conjunction with the Wake Park World Series, Mackay Cable Park will be officially opened by Mackay Regional Council Mayor Deirdre Comerford, with acknowledgements by federal Member of Parliament George Christensen on the first day of action on Friday, 15 November 2013.

Terrace Homes - Open For Inspection – 1 November 2013

The Lake Poco Terrace Houses make up a remarkable picture from our main entrance cross Lake Poco.  These Terrace Houses were designed by renowned Brisbane Architect Mr Fred Iezzi of Idearchitecture with the first 4 Terrace Houses being finished this coming week.

The intent behind the terrace house design was the bringing together of multiple building shapes and masses to form a vibrant mosaic of colour both on the horizon and reflected off  the surface of Lake Poco.

The Terrace Houses were designed with lifestyle in mind for owner occupiers. All Terrace Houses have covered patios on the ground level and covered decks on the first floor overlooking Lake Poco. If you are impressed by the outside wait until you see the internals. They are large ranging from approximately 200m2 and above with 2700mm ceilings, glass balustrades and granite stone benches and European stainless steel appliances in the kitchens.

Residents are able to walk immediately outside their properties to the lake side park and the footpath network that runs throughout the estate via the shopping and medical centre to around Lake Grande and the sporting fields of the various sporting associations that adjoin Andergrove Lakes Estate.

The first residents will move into the Terrace Houses this coming week. There are only 2 Terrace House lots remaining which are being marketed by Contrast Constructions and LJ Hooker.

There is one off opportunity in the next 2 weeks to be able to inspect several Terrace Homes before the owners move in with LJ Hooker having open days both Saturday and Sunday for interested buyers. Contact Tracy Smith from LJ Hooker for more information on 0438 567 520.

Estate Milestone – 5 September 2013

Installation of the cable system towers, cable and drive motors were completed last week lead by a specialist installation team from Germany.

The towers were lifted into place by a helicopter to the amazement of a large crown that had assembled. "Everything went perfect." said Andergrove Lakes director Chris Grimm.

"The 5 towers were assembled in a staging area adjacent to the lake and lifted into place in two sections. First was the vertical sections and then the horizontal jibs.  The preparation and assembly occured over the week leading up to the lifting of the tower and the drive motors were fitted subsequently." said Mr Grimm.

The Ski Lodge is now well under construction and all is going to plan to be ready for World Wakeboarding Championships from 15 to 17 November.

"These are very exciting times for us and Mackay." said Mr Grimm.

Lake Grande is being constructed progressively as part of stages 6 to 9 and will on completion be 50% larger than Lake Poco. It will have more challenging jumps and rails ("kickers and sliders") and was designed for advanced and expert wakeboarders.

Lake Piccolo will have an in line cable system and is designed for beginners as well as private functions from time to time.

Terrace Houses - Low Maintenance Resort Style Living – 15 July 2013

Why buy a Terrace House at Andergrove Lakes? If you ask The Solar Group directors, Debbie and Stephen Porter, you will be surprised at the number of reasons.

Both are long term Mackay residents Stephen having grown up in the area originally from Proserpine and Debbie moving here 15 years ago originally from Melbourne. They raised their family in a traditional house in nearby Mt Pleasant before selling. When their children moved on they moved to Mackay Harbour.

“After living in a Mackay Harbour apartment we definitely wanted hassle free apartment style living without people living above us along with being able to walk outside without having to use a lift” says Debbie.

“Once the first lake and stages at Andergrove Lakes were complete and the Terrace Houses were released we realised the Terrace Houses would give us far more than we expected. We have the park and walking footpath only 20metres away after walking through our private courtyard with a view of the first lake with what I can only describe as a constantly moving picture every day. We researched all alternatives and we knew we had something special which would ‘future proof’ our capital gain compared to other options.” says Debbie.

“We liked the closeness of the estate to Mackay CBD and were impressed with the upgraded roads to and from the estate. Finally we were able to select a 4 bedroom Terrace House giving us plenty of room for visits from our 6 children and grandchildren (one so far).”

Debbie comments that she expects plenty of visits from their family with the cable ski park so close by and intends to take out an annual subscription herself - so professionals watch out!

Stephen and Debbie Porter own and operate The Solar Group, a very successful Mackay based renewable energy company. The Solar Group have designed and manufacture, sell and install a unique “Energy Hub” renewable energy unit integrated with communication, monitoring, data transmission and measuring applications along with standalone lighting for roads, parks and gardens. The Energy Hub is focused on remote area monitoring and some examples of their installation are the measurement of weather, dust from roads and dam water levels.  These Hubs transmit the measurements back to central control rooms and the data is extracted for reporting. Their clients include the full range of Mine sites, Councils and Government departments including Transport, Main Roads and various resource companies.

The Porters have recently entered into a joint venture with a publicly listed company Trivantage Group to commercialise the Energy Hub Australia wide and hopefully further a field.

Editor’s note;

We were genuinely surprised at the detailed analysis Stephen and Debbie went into before deciding on an Andergrove Lakes Terrace House. Stephen and Debbie’s Terrace House is due for completion in early September when they will become one of our early residents.

The Terrace House concept was developed based on similar waterfront houses in Melbourne particularly a large development in the suburb of Patterson Lakes. While the concept is new to Mackay and in this format to Queensland overall, the design provides resort style living that meets the needs of a busy or retired lifestyle.

All Terrace Houses front directly onto the lakes or lake park lands. There are 2 unsold Terrace House lots remaining in the Western Precinct.

We take this opportunity to welcome the Porter’s to our vibrant new lakeside community.

Development Update – 21 May 2013

Mackay real estate icon Barry Richards will be one of the first residents to move into our estate when his home is complete within the next 2 months.

Barry, one of the founders of Eastment & Richards Real Estate, and his wife had been looking for some time for their perfect retirement home before settling on a terrace house directly overlooking Lake Poco.

"We fell in love with all elements of the estate and the terrace houses were perfect. The estate is built around the lakes giving us immediate access to pleasant walking paths and boardwalks and we will be able to walk to the shopping centre for our needs or just a coffee."

"The terrace houses located on the lake give us a wonderful outlook and open feeling without a back yard to maintain. The alternative to minimise maintenance was a unit and we didn't want to be paying body corporate levies.

"Buying the land and constructing the house meant that we saved on stamp duty for the building so we couldn't be happier."

Barry is willing to show interested buyers through his home by prior arrangement.

New Childcare Centre Underway – 21 May 2013

Construction is about to commence on the Andergrove Lake's Childcare Centre. Tenders will close on 5 June with contractors to start on site immediately according to Kidzplay learning centre owner Paul Dwyer.

"We have had the centre designed by specialist childcare centre designer KDW Designs and it will set a new standard in childcare centres in Mackay" said Mr Dwyer.

"While we won't be opening until mid January 2014 the interest from parents already has been amazing" "The centre will take children from 6 weeks to school age with all meals supplied."

"We have a limit of 81 children so we ask that parents register their interest early so that they won't be disappointed." said Mr Dwyer.

For more information contact Shay Dwyer on info@kidzplay.com.au or you can register your interest here.

We look forward to welcoming a new generation to our new vibrant lakeside community.

Development Update - 6 May 2013

We have received some inquiry in relation to when the National Broadband Network will be live to our estate.  Our estate is one of very few in Mackay to have NBN optical fibres installed direct to all lots and of course there are many areas in Australia where NBN is a future dream.

As part of construction of Stages 1-4 we installed the optical fibre conduits and pits and we are now waiting for NBN's contractor to run the optical fibres in accordance with our contract with NBN Co.  NBN Co. have programmed to install the optical fibres for stages 1-3 in the period of July to September 2013.  We'll have more precise timing on when that will be complete in early July and will keep you updated.

Stage 4 is yet to be programmed by NBN Co. but we are hoping that it can be done in the same period.

If you are moving in prior to NBN fibre being installed you are eligible to get a line from Telstra under the
Universal Service Obligation Agreement. Telstra will provide a connection under the USO however once the NBN Co service is live and if you choose not to proceed to use Telstra as their service provider you will be charged $299.00.   Call Telstra for more information on 1800 834 273.

To maximise the benefits of the optical fibre to your house you should
ensure that the maximum capacity fibre lead ins are installed between the lot pillar box and your house and that your house wiring takes advantages of the high speed delivery features of the optical cable. We strongly recommend that you discuss these requirements with your builder.

Development Update – 18 April 2013

Our vibrant new lakeside community is starting to take form with 20 new homes currently under construction in Stages 1 to 3 of Andergrove Lakes.

The building activity will increase substantially as more Lakefront Terrace Homes commence and Stage 4 lots settle.  New titles were issued earlier this week for Stage 4 with many buyers requesting early settlement to bring forward the commencement of construction of their homes.

Cable Ski Park – 18 April 2013

After some delay we are pleased to announce that the cable ski system has arrived from Rixen Cable Ways, Germany and is currently being cleared through Customs Brisbane.  We have tentatively booked a heavy lift Helicrane for the installation of the cable plates and towers and plan to complete the installation of the cable ski system on Lake Poco by early June.

Stages 1 To 3 - Titles Registered – 15 January 2013

We couldn't have chosen better timing for the rain over the festive season which impacted the site with immediate results. The Western Precinct has been transformed with Lake Poco full, roads now sealed and the waterways landscaped.  The Survey Plan was registered with the Titles Office on January 10th for Stages 1 to 3 with settlements scheduled for 31st January.

We anticipate a hive of activity from builders and contractors for the residential lots and the cable ski park who will be the first to experience the dynamic lifestyle in our vibrant new community.

Inquiry has been strong in the New Year so we suggest that you act now to secure either the last remaining land lot, or one of the 6 remaining Terrace Homes from Stages 1 to 3.  Register your interest for the next release - Stage 6 which is land due to be released in February 2013.
